When I read the first Internet post about Soulja Boy's new song; "Let's Be Real", I was highly pissed off! My brother died because he fought for our country, so I was very quick to join the tirade. I watched all the videos that I could find on the subject. I heard all the retaliating rap songs and read all the articles. I witnessed numerous vicious attacks on him, some going as far as threatening his very life! This did not sit very well with me. My mother always accused me of standing up for the underdog. I see now that I am older that she was right.

This kid, DeAndre Way (a.k.a Soulja Boy, tell em') made a rap video which includes the lyrics; "F' the FBI, F' all the Army Troops". It was uploaded to the Internet about five days ago. The video was produced with extreme low quality. Maybe there was nothing left in his budget after he purchased that 55 million dollar jet, I don't know, but it was terrible! It's a very raw video without any of the studio hype. It is obvious to me that no one in his management team could have had any idea that he was about to make a Youtube video that would destroy his career faster than it took him to upload it. This was a childish mistake in which no professional would have approved. Truly this song and video was career suicide.

A career that came to him by pure luck by the way. I personally do not see or hear one ounce of talent there, but that's a whole other story. However, the mistake that he made was a human error, after all he is human, right? He is someone's child, right? Most would even agree that he is one of God's children so maybe it should be left up to Him to be the judge. I have no doubt that DeAndre is an ignorant and impulsive child. He has made an enemy out of the U.S. Military and half the population. Slightly out numbered don't you think?

If you choose to view the videos on Youtube that have been uploaded by soldiers, you will hear very explicit and violent lyrics, (Not recommended for children).

The comments on this kid's Facebook page would scare the Devil himself. Although he has made a formal public apology, a lynch mob is still out for his blood. What any of the items I have read or viewed has failed to acknowledge is that after he says; 'F' the Troops" he goes on to say "Shout out to all the Army Troops, they ridin for da' Boy".

I seriously believe that he never meant any harm to the Military or their families with what he said. He just got carried away and a little too full of himself like any kid given his situation.

Personally, I feel that rap music can often go too far and is in some way a contributing factor on this country's moral decay along with movies, television and the Internet. I feel that SOME Hip-hop artist/rappers think that their money and excess makes them untouchable. That way of thinking is infecting our youth like a virus. But I also feel that some rap songs are artistically lyrical in the sense of Rhythm and Poetry. It's sad that so many wanna-be superstars are capitalizing solely for the fame and fortune regardless of their talent or lack of it!

My son grew up with rap music. He is actually an impressive free-styler and lyricist. He always had the dream of being famous, but the thought of him being in the same situation as DeAndre is horrifying to me!

This 21 year old has received the punishment that the majority seems to think he deserves. Aside from literally killing him what more does he have to endure? His career is probably over at this point, as it should be, but can you imagine for yourself or for your own son to have made such an ignorant and thoughtless lyric? Can you imagine what it must feel like to be hated and threatened by the world? He must be feeling as low as a person can feel. I think he has learned his lesson and has become an example for anyone who chooses to "mess with the military". Does such harsh punishment really fit the crime? Should a few words out of your mouth bring about your own death! Should he be persecuted? Burned at the stake? Hanged? What?

This issue and the treatment brought against this guy could easily be viewed from a political standpoint, namely; Freedom of Speech and the list could go on, but it only needs to be viewed as a humanity issue. STOP THE HATE and STOP THE VIOLENCE!

My quote for the day:

Words are only as powerful as the credence that they are warranted.
